The Nutcracker Dress Rehearsal and Performance Policy
The Loudoun Ballet Company strives for excellence in all its performances. To achieve the level of professionalism necessary to meet our goals we require a commitment from the company members, other performers, parents, community, as well as staff and board members.

Rehearsals are not open to the public, however, parents and siblings are encouraged to stay for rehearsals at the performance site. There will not be time to permit discussion concerning individual performers with the artistic staff.

Additionally, siblings are to be carefully supervised by the parent at all times.

• Watch the Company Bulletin Board and information posted on the website for important notices and changes.

• Check in on time, dressed and ready to dance, at the time posted for rehearsals and 1 1/2 hours prior to
performance time.

• You will be assigned a room. Check in with the attendance taker, and go to your room assignment. For those
performers in the cafeteria, you will have a specific area and an adult supervisor.

• Come prepared: Bring all costume items in the costume bag.

• Arrive with basic makeup completed and hair fixed for your role. If special makeup or hair style is required,
arrive promptly at the time set by the make-up volunteers.

• If desired, bring snacks or drinks in a cooler. All coolers will be stored in a specific area of the cafeteria.
Absolutely no food or drinks in the auditorium or any carpeted area of the school. Parents, please use good judgment -no colored juice or colas, they stain -no chocolate or messy items. If there is a spill, please clean up as much as you can, tell the person at the check-in table and we will help find a custodian. Pick up your own trash and discard it. Eating areas will be specified.

• Performers are not to eat or drink (except water) in costume!

• Manage the time available so everything gets done well ahead of schedule but young performers don't have to
be in costume all the time.

• All performers must report to check-in for all performances.

• If you are not performing and would like to see a performance, you may purchase a ticket or come to dress
rehearsal for the alternate cast.

• If you are performing in all the performances, but would like to watch a sibling the act you are not in, see the
Producer so we can try to make special arrangements for you to watch.

• No costumed performer is allowed in the house area (lobby or auditorium) unless you have been assigned a
duty there by the Producer or Director.

• Performers must stay in assigned rooms until you are needed on stage to perform. Leave only to use
the restroom/do makeup/eat a snack. Get permission from the supervisor of that room and let them know where you are at all times.

• Parents, bring quiet items to occupy the younger performers -books, crayons (no paints or markers), games,
and homework. We will provide videos.

• Dress rehearsal should be treated like a real performance.

• Restrain from running in the hallways and rough play.

• If there is a problem with a costume, call it to the attention of the adult supervising your area and/or the
Wardrobe Mistress. If it is a small problem that can be pinned, expect that to happen and repair sewing will be done between shows. The Wardrobe Mistress will be prioritizing problems and your problem will be attended to as quickly as possible. Please be patient.

• Dad's old button-down shirt makes a great cover up for costumes.

• If you are sharing costumes with another performer, make sure you both know how the costume exchange will
take place. It is the responsibility of the performer receiving the costume to make sure they will have the costume at the next (their) performance.

• For rehearsals, you may park close to the auditorium. For performances, please use more remote parking lots
as a courtesy to your audience.

• Videotaping of dress rehearsals is at the discretion of the Producer and Artistic Director. If you camera has a
light it must be turned off or completely covered. Absolutely no videotaping is permitted at a performance. Absolutely no flash photography at any time.

• Consistent with the schools we perform in, there will be Zero tolerance for drugs, alcohol, and weapons.

• Parents are expected to accompany their dancers into the rehearsal site and check them in. Performers are to
be accompanied by an adult until their rehearsal time.

• Parents are expected to be available to pick up their performers 5-10 minutes prior to the scheduled completion
of the rehearsal and provide the performer with a means of reaching the parent should rehearsal end early. Performers should be picked up inside the rehearsal site. For their safety, they will not be permitted to wait outside for a ride.
